Artist Pushpamala N and Kannada poet Mamta Sagar explore the idea of freedom and captivity through the work of the first Kannada woman writer and Nationalist, Nanjangud Thirumalamba. The half-hour performance lies between performance art, theatre and literary monologue.

 

This series of pictures follows the narrative thread within the work.

Pushpamala N, a photo and video performance artist, was born in Bangalore, and lives in Bangalore and Delhi. She frequently uses herself as model in her own work, employing elements of popular culture to explore place, gender and history.
